Some homes travel a long way to reach the people who love them. This one travelled 1,600 kilometres north to Kuranda and arrived exactly as our client imagined.

It's a great example of what modular building can do when you start with a solid design and shape it around real life. So we thought we'd share the story.

A Vision Without a Builder

Our client already knew what they wanted. They'd engaged a tiny home designer to help bring their vision to life and they had a clear picture of the home they hoped to build.

There was just one problem. When it came time to actually construct it, they couldn't find a builder who could deliver the home within their budget. It's a frustrating spot to be in...

A plan in hand but no clear way forward.

That's when they came to us for a chat. We sat down, listened to what they needed, and looked at how we could help. Our Baringa design turned out to be the perfect starting point. With a few thoughtful changes, we could give them the home they'd been dreaming about, at a price that worked for them.

Reworking the Baringa

The Baringa normally comes as a two bedroom design. But our client wanted something different. A home built around their lifestyle, not someone else's.

So we reworked it. We created a custom modular home using the Baringa layout. Changing it into a one bedroom layout, opening up the space and tailoring the floor plan to suit exactly how they wanted to live. Fewer rooms, more room to breathe, and a home that felt right from the moment you stepped inside.

That's the beauty of modular. The design isn't set in stone. Internal layouts, finishes, and features can all be adjusted to suit your needs, your block, and your budget. You're not getting a cookie cutter home, you're building something that fits you.

A tricky site handled with care

Now, this build came with its share of challenges. The block sits on a biodiversity overlay, which meant no additional tree removal was permitted.

The site was heavily covered in rainforest, sloping down towards a creek, and as luck would have it plenty of rain during the install. Conditions like these can trip up even experienced teams.

But this is exactly the kind of work we're built for. We planned the logistics carefully from the start, respected the natural surroundings, and worked carefully through the wet weather. In the end, everything went smoothly and the home settled into its rainforest setting like it had always belonged there.

The Power of Modular Homes

Modular building made it possible. It gave our client the flexibility to customise their design, the confidence of a fixed budget, and a genuine, high quality home delivered where they needed it.

If you've got a vision for your own home and you're not sure where to start, we'd love to have a chat. Whether you want to adapt one of our existing designs or talk through what's possible for your block.
